PCH wrote a successful Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) application on behalf of Southend High School for Girls for a 1FE Expansion . The bid was for £2.4m to be combined with £400k of funding from other streams to enable a new standalone Geography/Mathematics block, tennis courts and some re-modelling within areas of the existing school. The project facilitated an increase in annual intake by 150 pupils; necessary because of demand and a shortage of school places in the borough.

The cost effective scheme was developed by the PCH Associates in house Architect specifically with sustainable energy technologies in mind. This was a concept that the Client was fully engaged with and created a building that is comfortable for its occupants year-round, minimises the school’s energy bills and can educate and inspire those students interested in the STEM subjects.

The construction was tendered and overseen by PCH Associates and the building has achieved an ‘A’ Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating with no recommendations for improvement.
