PCH Associates were appointed by the South East Essex Academy Trust (SEEAT) for a school nursery expansion project at Prince Avenue Academy and Nursery in Southend. The school contained a small nursery but there was an opportunity to expand due to local demand and funding opportunity. PCH prepared an application to the School Nurseries Capital Fund (SNCF), and the school were successfully awarded capital funding in excess of £780,000.

Our role continued throughout the project with development of the brief, preparation of design and specification information and tender documents. We prepared and submitted the planning application to the local authority and consent was granted to proceed. A Design and Build Contract was awarded to the successful contractor, and a prefabricated building was constructed along with external works including new external play facilities, access and utility areas.

The project was delivered within budget and within the programme, allowing the school to train new staff and relocate existing nursery pupils to the new facility to minimise school disruption.
